1. The #1 mistake most people do is choosing to create or
promote products they "like" or feel close to the subject...maybe
some kind of hobby they have, and work weeks to come up with
their idea, sometimes spending years to promote it, only to find
out they are the only people in the world interested in
it...sometimes they come up with a great product or idea anyone
would love, but no one will pay for, because you can get it for
free on the Internet...

Of course you don't need your own product to make a lot of
money with a web site: you can choose to promote products
through affiliate programs, or profit from Google Adsense on
your site.

In anyway, you will need to find products that are well- searched
for in the search engines.

Go to: Overture (free) and type in your term to find out how
many times this term had been searched for in the past month.
You can triple your result, and that's about how many times the
term had been searched for in Google...
Choose a term that has results of tens or hundreds of thousands.

2. Well searched terms also means heavy competition, you will
not be able to handle as a beginner.
Take your chosen term and make a simple Google search for that
term. You will probably find millions and millions of web sites
selling or promoting your chosen term.

3. Find niche products, that are well searched for, but not
promoted by many people, and you got yourself a GOLD MINE.  
Yes, you do. If you find niche products or keywords that people
search for thousands of times every day, with low competition,
you will make hundreds or even thousands of dollars every
single day.

4.Some software and programs will find niche products for you,
and some will help you choose  those best products.
Some programs or software will help you to win even in a
competitive field, so when surfers search for your chosen term,
their search will result with YOUR PRODUCT, and not your
competitors.
